Biographical Information on J. Walter Williamson

J. Walter Williamson was born on March 12, 1914 into a long established family in the St. Andrews area. He served with the 4th New Brunswick Hussars from 1940-46 and was decorated in both the Italian and German campaigns. He returned as a Master Corporal and retired from the service to work in a printer's shop in St. Andrews.

He joined the then Liquor Control Board as a clerk in the St. Andrews store. He became Acting Manager of the store on Jan. 1, 1961 and the permanent Manager on June 6, 1961. He served as Manager through the change from the Liquor Control Board to the Liquor Control Commission in 1962 and then to the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation in 1976. He retired from the Corporation on March 31, 1979, at the age of 65.
